Our Team

Tim Boyes-Watson, Director and Co-Creator

Tim is seeking to change the inequitable world of funding and non-profit management in new ways - as a Director and Co-Creator of Fair Funding Solutions. Fair Funding Solutions is advising non-profits and funders on how to design and implement practical ways to make financial management and funding more equitable and locally led.

This builds on Tim's previous role of Global Director of Influence and Initiatives at Humentum. Here he was responsible for working in partnership with donors and other membership networks to create transformative solutions to key operational challenges in development and humanitarian work that can be achieved by changing donor policies or creating global standards. From 2010 to 2017 Tim served as CEO of Mango, whose mission was to strengthen the financial management and accountability of humanitarian and development NGOs and their partners. Tim then led Mango into a merger with InsideNGO and LINGOs to create Humentum.

Tim is a thought leader on key non-profit financial management issues, such as inadequate cost coverage, fraud and financial sustainability. He is playing a leading role in the development of the world’s first ever international financial reporting guidance for non-profit organisations, see www.IFR4NPO.org, supported through his ongoing relationship with Humentum, as an Associate Consultant.

Tim has worked in various senior leadership roles within the social sector over the last 20 years. He joined Mango after being Chief Executive of Learning South West, a UK education and youth work charity. Prior to that Tim lived and worked in Vietnam for 3 years as Country Director for VSO. At Christian Aid he was Head of Finance, Head of Programme Funding and acted as Finance Director for 6 months. His first job in the not-for-profit sector was as a Regional Accountant for West and Southern Africa at Save the Children. Tim studied Philosophy and Economics and qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen.
